While I was waiting for the metro

While I was waiting for the metro, I decided to read the newspaper distributed to every passenger boarding the busy, busy metro. “It has been so long since I last read a news article! I wonder what I am going to find out? Probably everything I need to know what is going on around the world!” I glanced at the digital screen overhead, checking the time I had left until the next metro arrived. “9h34, 4 minutes until the next train.” I had some time, enough to catch up on the latest world news.

I nonchalantly began reading through, focusing on the big headlines (because headlines contain the important stories, don't they?):
“Constructions begin in the Plateau.” Oh my goodness! No way, again? Constructions around the city are not new, they happen all the time here in Montreal. In fact, I can't even keep count on whether the construction work I see is new or still ongoing for the past few months.
“Flu season is arriving! Begin wearing warmer clothes, boil yourself a cup of tea, and de-stress as much as possible!” Phew! Thank you so much for telling me! I am sure I won’t ever get sick again now that I know those golden tips!
“Leonardo di Caprio, a winner once again.” Yeeees! This is amazing. He is so awesome, and he so deserves all the awards in the world.
“Jean Coutu. Big sales, small prices. Come get your products now!” Oh! I was running out of all my beauty products. So glad I waited, I’ll be able to buy what I need cheaper. Feeling so blessed right now.
“Daily Horoscope: You will feel the love from your loved one, but beware of your work colleagues.” What?! What kind of horoscope is that? ...oh well, horoscopes are not true anyways. They don’t tell you anything.

The swooshing sound of an incoming train caused my head to jolt up. I glanced at the digital clock again. “9h42, 1 minute left.” I waited for the metro to arrive to a stop and popped inside the train. I flipped to the next page of my newspaper, only to realise that there were no more pages. I scrunched my eyebrows, and shrugged. Hm, I learned so much from my newspaper today. After all, I did know more than before I picked it up, right? And ooh! so excited about my stop at Jean Coutu later today! But, ugh, why did the metro take double the time to arrive anyway?!

And on my way out of the station, I dropped my copy of the newspaper into the recycling bin where were already lying piles of discarded fresh newspapers.
